SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 18
BY SENATOR GUILLORY AND REPRESENTATIVE DANAHAY 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Shane Hanchey of Sulphur on becoming the Tie-Down Roping World
Champion at the 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
WHEREAS, the National Finals Rodeo, organized by the Professional Rodeo
Cowboys Association and sponsored by Wrangler Jeans, is the premier championship rodeo
event in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the National Finals Rodeo showcases the talents of the nation's top
fifteen money-winners in each event as they compete for the world title; and
WHEREAS, Shane Hanchey of Sulphur became the Tie-Down Roping World
Champion in Las Vegas at the 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in December where he
was awarded his first gold buckle; and
WHEREAS, entering the tenth and final round of the rodeo, Shane was in tenth place
in the tie-down roping and more than sixty-two thousand dollars behind the leader; and
WHEREAS, during that round, Shane won the average and climbed to the top of the
standings; and
WHEREAS, he won one hundred thirty-four thousand seven hundred sixty-six
dollars and broke Cody Ohl's record of one hundred thirty-two thousand six hundred fifty-
two dollars set in 2006; and
WHEREAS, during the competition, he had a time of 80.10 seconds on 10 head; and
WHEREAS, it is only appropriate that a special measure of commendation be
extended to Shane Hanchey as he is recognized with the utmost admiration and respect by
the Louisiana Legislature for his accomplishments on the professional rodeo circuit.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Shane Hanchey for his outstanding accomplishments, does
hereby express enduring appreciation to him for the tremendous pride, honor, and joy he
brings to his family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend
to him every good wish for continued success and happiness in the future. SCR NO. 18	ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Shane Hanchey.
