BY SENATOR DORSEY-COLOMB AND REPRESENTATI VE BADON 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Recognizes April 2, 2014, as Mayor's Day at the Louisiana
State Capitol.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To recognize April 2, 2014, as Mayor's Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.2
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) was founded in 1926 as3
a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving as a unified voice for Louisiana's municipal4
governments; and5
WHEREAS, the LMA is a statewide member organization that advocates on the6
behalf of 303 municipalities and two parishes; and7
WHEREAS, the LMA encompasses six affiliate and associated entities, including8
the Louisiana City Attorney's Association, Louisiana Municipal Clerks Association,9
Building Officials Association of Louisiana, Louisiana Association of Municipal Secretaries10
and Assistants, Louisiana Parks and Recreation Association, and Louisiana Association of11
Tax Administrators; and12
WHEREAS, the core of the LMA's mission is to advocate, educate, and empower13
local governments to serve the citizens of Louisiana efficiently and effectively; and14
WHEREAS, the LMA provides numerous programs and services to its member15
municipalities, including conferences and trainings, LaMATS' sponsored Delinquent16
Property Tax and Insurance Premium Tax Programs, and Computer Information Technology17
Assistance Program; and18 SCR NO. 35

WHEREAS, the LMA continues to promote local governments by shaping1
legislation, providing education on municipal issues, and exchanging ideas and experiences2
among elected official leaders throughout the state; and3
WHEREAS, on April 2, 2014, the LMA will host its Annual Mayor's Day and4
Legislative Conference celebrating all municipal officials and employees for their dedication5
to public service.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby7
recognize April 2, 2014, as Mayor's Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.8
