SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 35
BY SENATOR DORSEY-COLOMB AND REPRESENTATI VE BADON 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To recognize April 2, 2014, as Mayor's Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) was founded in 1926 as
a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving as a unified voice for Louisiana's municipal
governments; and
WHEREAS, the LMA is a statewide member organization that advocates on the
behalf of 303 municipalities and two parishes; and
WHEREAS, the LMA encompasses six affiliate entities, including the Louisiana
Association of Tax Administrators, Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association, Louisiana
City Attorneys Association, Louisiana Municipal Clerks Association, Louisiana Association
of Municipal Secretaries and Assistants, and Building Officials Association of Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, the LMA also includes five associated entities, namely, Risk
Management, Inc., Louisiana Municipal Advisory and Technical Services Bureau, Louisiana
Municipal Gas Authority, Louisiana Community Development Authority, and Louisiana
Municipal Association of Unemployment Compensation Program; and 
WHEREAS, representation from the affiliate entities and also from the Municipal
Employees Retirement System of Louisiana, the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association, the
Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates, and the Louisiana Conference of Mayors, and
the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police Association is included on the LMA Board of
Directors; and
WHEREAS, the core of the LMA's mission is to advocate, educate, and empower
local governments to serve the citizens of Louisiana efficiently and effectively; and
WHEREAS, the LMA provides numerous programs and services to its member
municipalities, including conferences and trainings, LaMATS' sponsored Delinquent
Property Tax and Insurance Premium Tax Programs, and Computer Information Technology

WHEREAS, the LMA continues to promote local governments by shaping
legislation, providing education on municipal issues, and exchanging ideas and experiences
among elected official leaders throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, on April 2, 2014, the LMA will host its Annual Mayor's Day and
Legislative Conference celebrating all municipal officials and employees for their dedication
to public service.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize April 2, 2014, as Mayor's Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
