SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 42
BY SENATORS GARY SMITH AND BROWN AND REPRESENTATI VES GAINES,
MILLER AND WILLMOTT 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Ajit "AJ" Pethe on being selected the 2014 Principal of
the Year.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Ajit "AJ" Pethe of St. Charles Parish Public Schools upon being selected the2
2014 Louisiana Principal of the Year and to recognize his outstanding service and3
contributions to the education of the youth of Louisiana.4
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana wishes to5
commend and recognize Ajit "AJ" Pethe upon his selection as the 2014 Louisiana Principal6
of the Year; and7
WHEREAS, Mr. Pethe received his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and8
his Masters in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans, both times9
with a 3.9 grade point average; and10
WHEREAS, Mr. Pethe was an educator for sixteen years and served as principal at11
Luling for the past six years where he led Luling to increase its school performance score12
by almost twenty points during his tenure and was named the district's principal of the year13
and then state principal of the year, he now serves as the Executive Director of Secondary14
Schools in the Central Office; and15
WHEREAS, prior to his appointment in 2007 as principal of Luling Elementary16
School, he served the district well as a middle school teacher and coach, and administrative17
assistant of Lakewood Elementary School, and assistant principal of Hahnville High School;18

WHEREAS, he is a member of numerous organizations, the National Association1
of Elementary School Principals, American Association of School Administrators,2
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council of Teachers of3
Mathematics, Louisiana Association of School Executives, Louisiana Association of4
Principals, and the National Reading Council; and5
WHEREAS, the most important qualification for a Principal of the Year is a superior6
ability to provide instructional leadership to teachers and students of all backgrounds and7
abilities; and8
WHEREAS, Mr. Ajit "AJ" Pethe's selection as the Principal of the Year just9
confirmed what St. Charles Parish School District, St. Charles Parish teachers, and St.10
Charles Parish residents already knew, which is that St. Charles Parish has a superior11
educational system; and12
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the Legislature of Louisiana expresses its13
recognition and congratulations to Mr. Pethe who has spent his career touching and inspiring14
the lives and minds of the young students of St. Charles Parish while sharing his gifts, skills,15
personal commitment, and time to promote and improve the educational system in St.16
Charles Parish and in Louisiana.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby18
commend Mr. Ajit "AJ" Pethe of St. Charles Parish Public Schools upon being named the19
2014 Louisiana Principal of the Year and recognizes his outstanding service and20
contributions to the education of the youth of Louisiana.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Ajit22
"AJ" Pethe.23
