SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 42

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Ajit "AJ" Pethe of St. Charles Parish Public Schools upon being selected the
2014 Louisiana Principal of the Year and to recognize his outstanding service and
contributions to the education of the youth of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana wishes to
commend and recognize Ajit "AJ" Pethe upon his selection as the 2014 Louisiana Principal
of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pethe received his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and
his Masters in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans, both times
with a 3.9 grade point average; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pethe was an educator for sixteen years and served as principal at
Luling for the past six years where he led Luling to increase its school performance score
by almost twenty points during his tenure and was named the district's principal of the year
and then state principal of the year, he now serves as the Executive Director of Secondary
Schools in the Central Office; and
WHEREAS, prior to his appointment in 2007 as principal of Luling Elementary
School, he served the district well as a middle school teacher and coach, and administrative
assistant of Lakewood Elementary School, and assistant principal of Hahnville High School;
and
WHEREAS, he is a member of numerous organizations, the National Association
of Elementary School Principals, American Association of School Administrators,
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics, Louisiana Association of School Executives, Louisiana Association of
Principals, and the National Reading Council; and
WHEREAS, the most important qualification for a Principal of the Year is a superior
ability to provide instructional leadership to teachers and students of all backgrounds and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ajit "AJ" Pethe's selection as the Principal of the Year just
confirmed what St. Charles Parish School District, St. Charles Parish teachers, and St.
Charles Parish residents already knew, which is that St. Charles Parish has a superior
educational system; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the Legislature of Louisiana expresses its
recognition and congratulations to Mr. Pethe who has spent his career touching and inspiring
the lives and minds of the young students of St. Charles Parish while sharing his gifts, skills,
personal commitment, and time to promote and improve the educational system in St.
Charles Parish and in Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Mr. Ajit "AJ" Pethe of St. Charles Parish Public Schools upon being named the
2014 Louisiana Principal of the Year and recognizes his outstanding service and
contributions to the education of the youth of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Ajit
"AJ" Pethe.
