SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 70
BY SENATOR GARY SMITH AND REPRESENTATIVE MILLER 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend and congratulate the Destrehan Lady Wildcats for an outstanding and historic
season and on reaching the state championship game.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Legislature of Louisiana
commend and congratulate the Destrehan Lady Wildcats for an outstanding and
unprecedented season and on reaching the state championship game; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Cats went undefeated in district play and won the District
7-5A championship with a record of fourteen wins and no losses; and 
WHEREAS, led by head coach Angi Butler, and assistant coaches Meagan Stock and
Joanna Welch, Destrehan posted a season record of thirty-one wins and only two losses; and
WHEREAS, players Jordan Dabney, Lamitra Wells, Jasmine Morris, Brandi Mason,
Alana Lawrence, Nytea Sanchez, Ballee Lipps, Cara Ursin, Kyrsten Kenner, Alexis Jackson,
Marshe Ursin, Tiera Melancon, Jerllcia Morris and managers Brittany Williams,
ReJanne' Fobb, Keirra Sandifer, Samdrael McKay, and Cade Butler all made valuable
contributions to the success of the team; and
WHEREAS, seniors Jordan Dabney and Alexis Jackson, junior Jasmine Morris and
freshmen Cara Ursin, and Brandi Mason were influential standouts all season; and
WHEREAS, coming into the championship game, the Lady Cats had not lost a game
since November and that was only in tournament play and were 31-1 for the year but
ultimately Destrehan lost their second game of the season falling to the Mt. Carmel Cubs 69-
60 in the state championship game.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate the Destrehan High School Lady Wildcats on an outstanding and
impressive season and for making it to the 2014 Class 5A state basketball championship and
does hereby extend its tribute to the coaches, players, and managers of the Destrehan Lady
Wildcats girls basketball team for their phenomenal season. SCR NO. 70	ENROLLED

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Destrehan High School Principal Stephen Weber and Head Coach Angi Butler.
