SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 9
BY SENATOR CLAITOR AND REPRESENTATIVES GREENE AND PONTI 
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Claney Duplechin, the boys varsity cross country coach at Episcopal High
School in Baton Rouge, on being selected as a 2013 National Coach of the Year by
the National Federation of State High School Associations.
WHEREAS, the National Federation of State High School Associations selects its
national coaches of the year based on the coach's record, basic philosophy of athletics,
community service, involvement in other school activities, and involvement at the local,
state, and national levels; and
WHEREAS, twenty-one coaches in boys and girls athletics were selected to receive
the national coaches of the year honor for the 2012-2013 school year; and
WHEREAS, it is the second national honor for Coach Duplechin in as many years,
having received the Gill Athletics National Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year award
in 2012; and
WHEREAS, under Coach Duplechin's leadership, the Episcopal High School Knights
boys varsity cross country team won its eighteenth consecutive championship title in the fall
of 2013; and
WHEREAS, during his career at Episcopal High School, Coach Duplechin led the
Knights to twenty-six state titles in cross country and thirteen state titles in indoor-outdoor
track and field; and
WHEREAS, Coach Duplechin has devoted his life to teaching young athletes the
meaning of teamwork and discipline, initially as a student coach at University High School,
then starting his coaching career as an assistant at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge,
before taking the helm at Episcopal High School; and
WHEREAS, Coach Duplechin is truly a dedicated professional to the students he
coaches and in everything he undertakes, and the citizens of Louisiana should be proud to
have this extraordinary man coaching the children of our state; and SCR NO. 9	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon talented and
dedicated coaches like Claney Duplechin.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate the Episcopal High School Knights boys varsity cross country
coach, Claney Duplechin, on a stellar cross country season and for being selected as a 2013
National Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Claney Duplechin.
