A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to take action to
provide greater safety to the motoring public, to move traffic more efficiently, and
to minimize traffic accidents at the intersection of Cornerview Road and Louisiana
Highway 73 and on Louisiana Highway 22 between Interstate Highway 10 and
Louisiana Highway 70 in Ascension Parish.
WHEREAS, the intersection of Cornerview Road and Louisiana Highway 73 in
Ascension Parish is controlled by a stop sign; and
WHEREAS, the intersection of Cornerview Road and Louisiana Highway 73 has
experienced increased heavy traffic due to economic development connected with chemical
plants and other commerce along the Mississippi River and residential growth; and
WHEREAS, vehicles have severe difficulties traversing the intersection; and
WHEREAS, accidents at the intersection have increased in the last year; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana Highway 22 between Interstate Highway 10 and Louisiana
Highway 70, approaching the Sunshine Bridge, in Ascension Parish, has experienced
increased traffic; and
WHEREAS, portions of Louisiana Highway 22 are four lanes but transition to two
lanes and create a bottleneck in front of businesses for patrons traveling on Louisiana
Highway 22 toward Louisiana Highway 70 and making left turns, resulting in vehicles that
continue traveling on Louisiana Highway 22 to cross the Sunshine Bridge driving upon the
shoulder to proceed past stopped, left-turning vehicles; and
WHEREAS, there is a neutral ground on Louisiana Highway 22 that may allow for
construction of turn lanes or three-lanes; and
WHEREAS, the department needs to take action to provide greater safety to the
motoring public, to move traffic more efficiently, and to minimize traffic accidents at the
intersection of Cornerview Road and Louisiana Highway 73 and on Louisiana Highway 22
between Interstate Highway 10 and Louisiana Highway 70 in Ascension Parish. SCR NO. 93 ENROLLED

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
request the Department of Transportation and Development to take action to provide greater
safety to the motoring public, to move traffic more efficiently, and to minimize traffic
accidents at the intersection of Cornerview Road and Louisiana Highway 73 and on
Louisiana Highway 22 between Interstate Highway 10 and Louisiana Highway 70 in
Ascension Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
