SENATE CONCURRENT STUDY REQUEST NO. 1
BY SENATOR MILLS 
COMMITTEE STUDIES.  Requests study of the Louisiana laws and operational policies
and practices of law enforcement relative to radar speed enforcement calibration and
certification.
A CONCURRENT STUDY REQUEST1
To request the Senate Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works and the2
House Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works to meet and3
function as a joint committee to study the laws of Louisiana and operational policies4
and practices relative to the calibration and certification of radar equipment used by5
law enforcement agencies in this state to enforce speed limits on public highways.6
WHEREAS, law enforcement agencies in Louisiana use radar equipment to enforce7
speed limits on public highways in Louisiana; and8
WHEREAS, periodic calibration and certification of such radar equipment by law9
enforcement agencies are necessary to assure that such equipment is functioning properly10
and recording accurately in fairness to the citizens and traveling public who operate motor11
vehicles on public highways in Louisiana.12
THEREFORE, the Legislature of Louisiana requests that the Senate Committee on13
Transportation, Highways, and Public Works and the House Committee on Transportation,14
Highways, and Public Works meet and function as a joint committee to study the laws of15
Louisiana and operational policies and practices relative to the calibration and certification16
of radar equipment used by law enforcement agencies in this state to enforce speed limits17

A copy of this Study Request shall be transmitted to the deputy secretary of the1
Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police, the Louisiana Municipal2
Association, the Louisiana Sheriff's Association, and the Louisiana Association of Chiefs3
of Police.4
