Page 1 of 1 Regular Session, 2014 APPROVED SENATE CONCURRENT STUDY REQUEST NO. 1 BY SENATOR MILLS A CONCURRENT STUDY REQUEST To request the Senate Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works and the House Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works to meet and function as a joint committee to study the laws of Louisiana and operational policies and practices relative to the calibration and certification of radar equipment used by law enforcement agencies in this state to enforce speed limits on public highways. WHEREAS, law enforcement agencies in Louisiana use radar equipment to enforce speed limits on public highways in Louisiana; and WHEREAS, periodic calibration and certification of such radar equipment by law enforcement agencies are necessary to assure that such equipment is functioning properly and recording accurately in fairness to the citizens and traveling public who operate motor vehicles on public highways in Louisiana. THEREFORE, the Legislature of Louisiana requests that the Senate Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works and the House Committee on Transportation, Highways, and Public Works meet and function as a joint committee to study the laws of Louisiana and operational policies and practices relative to the calibration and certification of radar equipment used by law enforcement agencies in this state to enforce speed limits on public highways. A copy of this Study Request shall be transmitted to the deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of state police, the Louisiana Municipal Association, the Louisiana Sheriff's Association, and the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police.
