A RESOLUTION
To recognize May 4-10, 2014, as Louisiana Teacher Appreciation Week.
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers make Louisiana public schools great; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers work to expand students' minds, opening a gateway
to ideas, knowledge, and dreams; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers spend countless hours outside of work preparing
lessons, evaluating progress, counseling, coaching, and caring for students; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers fill many roles, as listeners, role models, motivators,
and mentors; and
WHEREAS, teachers across America keep democracy alive by laying the foundation
for good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, our country's future depends upon the quality education teachers
provide to all students; and
WHEREAS, teachers continue to influence us long after our school days.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana that
May 4-10, 2014, is hereby recognized as Louisiana Teacher Appreciation Week.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana strongly encourage community members across the state to join in personally
expressing appreciation to our teachers and education support professionals for their
dedication and their impact on the lives of our children.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Louisiana Association of Educators.
