SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 114
BY SENATOR HEITMEIER 
A RESOLUTION
To recognize May 2014 as "International Internal Audit Awareness Month" in the Senate
of the Legislature of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting
activity designed to add value and to improve an organization's operations; and
WHEREAS, internal auditing seeks to help an organization accomplish its objectives
by bringing a systemic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of
risk management, control, and governance processes; and
WHEREAS, in both the public and private sectors, internal auditing is a vital part of
strengthening organizations and protecting stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, internal auditing helps identify and manage an organization's risks,
assesses policies and procedures and ensures that fiscal controls are in place; and
WHEREAS, an increasingly sophisticated and complex activity, internal auditing
requires specialized knowledge, training, and education; and
WHEREAS, internal auditing is an established profession, led by the Institute of
Internal Auditors, with a globally recognized code of ethics contained in International
Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing; and
WHEREAS, the positive contribution of internal audit professionals to the success
of organizations and the global economy at large deserves notice; and
WHEREAS, internal auditing as a career offers job opportunities with attractive
salaries, challenge, prestige, and professional certification as a Certified Internal Auditor.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize May 2014 as "International Internal Audit Awareness Month" in the
Senate. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Institute of Internal Auditors Chapter in New Orleans, Louisiana, through Pam Fiegel.
