Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 116 BY SENATOR MURRAY A RESOLUTION To commend the elected members of Louisiana school boards and school superintendents for their outstanding commitment to academic excellence in public education and to proclaim Monday, May 5, 2014, as School Boards and School Superintendents Recognition Day at the State Capitol. WHEREAS, throughout the state every public school system is represented by dedicated elected officials who work tirelessly to the benefit of Louisiana's youth to advance quality public education at every juncture both within and outside the classroom; and WHEREAS, school superintendents and school board members are forever vigilant to provide support for district and school accountability by upholding high standards of student achievement and teacher professionalism; and WHEREAS, academic excellence is a precious commodity that requires constant attention in the ever-changing world of educational opportunities; local school boards promote peak academic growth and attempt to reduce gaps in the learning experience; and WHEREAS, working hand-in-hand with the state's educational infrastructure, school board members and superintendents seek out the latest innovations in digital media technology and other instructional resources to incorporate modern educational tools directly into the student's positive classroom experience; and WHEREAS, flexible curriculum development, manageable teacher/student ratios, equitable funding, parity in assessment levels, and the ability to attract the best and brightest instructors are just some of the issues and objectives that school boards must address in the administration of public education; and WHEREAS, school board members and superintendents direct the future course of youth in Louisiana by their administration of parish and city-wide school systems, and they shoulder that responsibility in a most professional manner. SR NO. 116 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of Louisiana school boards and school superintendents for their outstanding commitment to academic excellence in public education and does hereby proclaim Monday, May 5, 2014, as School Boards and School Superintendents Recognition Day at the State Capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to John Smith, president of the Louisiana School Board Association, Scott Richard, executive director of the Louisiana School Board Association, and Patrice Pujol, president of the Louisiana Association of School Superintendents.
