SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 120

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers Gymnastics team and Head Coach
D-D Breaux on the highest national finish ever achieved by an LSU gymnastics
team.
WHEREAS, with the guidance of Coach Breaux, the 2014 Lady Tigers' earned a
score of 197.600 and third place in the NCAA Super Six finals; and
WHEREAS, the Super Six score was the record-breaking thirteenth consecutive
competition in which the gymnasts scored at least 197 this season, shattering the old school
record of eight in a row; and
WHEREAS, through the season, the Lady Tigers scored 197 or higher in fourteen
of fifteen outings on their way to earning the nation's top ranking for a three-week stretch
in late February and early March; and
WHEREAS, reaching the number one ranking was the first time since 2005 that
Coach Breaux and the Lady Tiger gymnasts had earned that ranking; and
WHEREAS, following a pre-season national mark of fifth in the country, the Lady
Tigers ranked no lower than third during the entire regular season and was seeded third for
the NCAA championships; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 Lady Tiger gymnastics team broke the school's all-time
scoring mark three times; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers scored 197.875 on February 15, 2014, at the Metroplex
Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, to break the old record of 197.50 that had stood for nine
years; and
WHEREAS, during the Southeastern Conference season the Lady Tigers set a new
all-time team high tally with a score of 198.050 against Missouri and finishing the season
11-0 at home, posting a flawless home record for the fifteenth season in a row; and SR NO. 120	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the highest mark ever earned by an LSU Lady Tigers gymnastics team
was recorded in the Baton Rouge regional with a total of 198.325, which tied the highest
score in the nation this season and qualified the Lady Tigers for the national semi-finals for
the twenty-fifth time in D-D Breaux's tenure; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers led the nation with five gymnasts as First-Team All
Americans at the NCAA championships; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 Lady Tigers gymnastics team ended the year as the only team
in the nation to score a 49.0 or higher in every event in every meet this entire season; and
 WHEREAS, amid a historically successful season, the Lady Tigers shattered the
home attendance record for the second straight season, including hosting a record crowd for
an NCAA Regional, besting all other venues by nearly one thousand fans attending; and
WHEREAS, the team earned twenty total All-American honors as a team, including
twelve regular season All-American honors that tied the most of any team; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach D-D Breaux was named National Coach of the Year by the
National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women while LSU assistant
coaches, Jay Clark and Bob Moore were honored as co-national assistant coaches of the
year; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers thrilled fans throughout the year, set new team and
individual records throughout the season, all accomplishments that culminated in the highest
finish in school history with third place at the NCAA Super Six Finals in April.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers gymnastics team and
Head Coach D-D Breaux on their highest national finish ever by an LSU team.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
LSU Lady Tiger gymnastics team and Head Coach D-D Breaux.
