SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 175
BY SENATOR CORTEZ 
A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission to review the application
process for each type of license and make necessary changes to streamline the
application process that will enhance efficiency while maintaining the integrity of
each license granted by the commission.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission (commission) is an executive
branch agency and is composed of eighteen members; and 
WHEREAS, the commission is vested with the powers necessary and proper to
enable it to fully and effectively carry out its authority, is empowered to make and enforce
all reasonable rules and regulations, and required to prescribe all forms necessary to
accomplish its purpose; and 
WHEREAS, the commission is responsible for licensing persons engaged in the
motor vehicle industry and recreational products industry and shall provide each person
applying for licensure an application form developed by the commission; and 
WHEREAS, a person serving in more than one capacity or having more than one
business location is required to obtain and hold a current license for each capacity and place
of business; and 
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission's application process needs
to be efficient and effective for all applicants, especially those needing multiple licenses, and
must maintain the integrity of each license granted by the commission.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby urge and request the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission to review the
application process for each type of license and make necessary changes to streamline the
process that will enhance efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining the integrity of each
license granted by the commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission shall
submit on or before February 1, 2015, to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer SR NO. 175	ENROLLED
Page 2 of 2
Protection and International Affairs, a report that includes a summary of any administrative
rule changes, a copy of any new forms prescribed by the commission, and if the review of
the licensing application process necessitates legislative changes, a copy of suggested
proposed language for legislation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission.
