Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 182 BY SENATORS GALLOT AND KOSTELKA A RESOLUTION To commend the Simsboro High School boys track and field team on winning the Class B state championship. WHEREAS, track is an individual as well as a team sport; and WHEREAS, an individual performance affects the team, especially in situations such as relay races; and WHEREAS, in addition to the team bond at track meets, friendships are formed during practice; and WHEREAS, the Simsboro High School boys track and field team completed a sensational season and cemented their bond as a team as well as their legacy in Louisiana sports history; and WHEREAS, Simsboro totaled 64.50 team points at the Class B state championship at Bernie Moore Stadium on the LSU campus; and WHEREAS, Simsboro's 4 x 400 relay team of Xavier Ogunyemi, Rontavious Abney, Dequalone James, Cardaye Modest took home a second-place finish, as did Colton Cochran in the 3,200m and 1,600m runs; and WHEREAS, Ron Abney won both the 110m and 300m hurdles events and was named the Class B boys MVP; and WHEREAS, the entire boys track team put forth a great effort and exemplified the meaning of teamwork; and WHEREAS, Coach Chris Campbell, through his ability to inspire, his patience to teach, and gift of leadership has coached his team to the pinnacle of Louisiana High School track and field. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize and record the tremendous pride and honor the Simsboro High School boys track and field team has brought to Simsboro and to the state of Louisiana with this SR NO. 182 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 accomplishment, and for completing a successful season through hard work and dedication, and does hereby extend best wishes to all players, coaches, and everyone involved with the track team's efforts in winning the Class B state championship.
