BY SENATORS ALARIO, ADLEY, ALLAIN, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, BROWN,
BUFFINGTON, CHABERT, CLAI TOR, CORTEZ, CROWE,
DONAHUE, DORSEY-COLOMB, ERDEY, GALLOT, GUILLORY,

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate James Claitor for his outstanding accomplishments in high
school wrestling.
WHEREAS, James Claitor, the son of Sharmaine and Senator Dan Claitor, is a recent
graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was an outstanding
member of the Catholic High School wrestling team; and
WHEREAS, he posted a 35-3 record in his senior year and an overall 166 wins and
only 12 losses in his high school career, ranking third all-time in wins at Catholic High
School; and
WHEREAS, James Claitor was twice selected as the Metro Most Valuable Player
and was a two time Metro Champion, winning in the 138 pound class as a junior and in the
145 pound class as a senior; and
WHEREAS, James Claitor won two individual state wrestling titles, in 2013 and in
2014 and, along with being a top finisher, served as a team captain and senior leader; and
WHEREAS, he competed in the Virginia Beach National placing fifth in the nation
and was named an Honorable Mention High School All-American by Wrestling USA
Magazine, becoming the eighth All-American in Catholic High School history; and
WHEREAS, James Claitor will be attending California Polytechnic State University
in San Luis Obispo, California, and has signed to wrestle for the Pac-12 Conference CalPoly
Mustangs, becoming the first Catholic High School wrestler to sign with an NCAA
Division I university; and
WHEREAS, James Claitor merits the utmost respect for his outstanding
accomplishments and for the tremendous honor and pride that he brings to his family,
friends, community, and the state of Louisiana. SR NO. 192	ENROLLED

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend James Claitor for his outstanding accomplishments in wrestling at
Catholic High School and does extend best wishes on his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
James Claitor.
