Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 202 BY SENATOR BROOME A RESOLUTION To express the support of the Senate for the mission of the Wilson Global Initiative and its founder, Chance Wilson. WHEREAS, Chance Wilson is a fourteen year old eighth grader at Westdale Middle School in Baton Rouge; and WHEREAS, Chance is determined to start his own 501c(3) nonprofit corporation with a global purpose; and WHEREAS, Chance has wisely turned to educators at his school and to local political and civic leaders seeking their advice and counsel in achieving his goals; and WHEREAS, the focus of the Wilson Global Initiative is advocating for and eventually helping to produce education reform around the world; and WHEREAS, Chance is not deterred by his age and lack of knowledge of economic and legal issues, rather he has a keen interest in changing the world and has taken his message to civic leaders and politicians, seeking those with expertise beyond his grasp as an eighth grader; and WHEREAS, one of Chance's main concerns is that the United States is facing unique challenges and he believes that the greatest strength of America, its ability to innovate, is key to surmounting the issues confronting the twenty-first century republic; and WHEREAS, Chance plans to be a part of that innovative approach to dealing with the issues of today, particularly global educational challenges, putting his imagination into action through his envisioned Chance Wilson Company and its nonprofit subsidiary, the Wilson Global Initiative; and WHEREAS, Chance has built on this vision to bring education innovation to areas of the world in need of assistance in educating young people; he has remained true to his idea of innovation; and he has sought people in the Baton Rouge community who can help develop in him the skills that will be needed to bring his dreams of the Chance Wilson Company and the Wilson Global Initiative to fruition. SR NO. 202 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its support for the mission of the Wilson Global Initiative and its founder, Chance A.
