SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 30

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette upon winning
their third consecutive New Orleans Bowl.
WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 21, 2013, our hearts and minds were in New
Orleans, Louisiana, where we experienced the conclusion of a wonderfully enjoyable season
and witnessed the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Ragin' Cajuns defeat the
Tulane Green Wave 24-21 in the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl; and
WHEREAS, on this great day, before a national television audience and a record
crowd of 54,728 fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, ULL made its third consecutive
bowl game appearance; and
WHEREAS, the 2013 Ragin' Cajuns' win in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
improved ULL's all-time record in bowl games to 4-1; and
WHEREAS, the ULL Ragin' Cajuns achieved a third straight postseason bowl
victory, having won the 2011 and 2012 editions of the New Orleans Bowl, defeating San
Diego State University 32-30 and East Carolina University 43-34, respectively; and
WHEREAS, ULL became the second team in history to win three editions of the
New Orleans Bowl, joining Southern Miss, which won in 2004, 2005, and 2008; and
WHEREAS, Coach Mark Hudspeth and his team exhibited tremendous
competitiveness and spirit in finishing their amazing 2013 season with an overall record of
9-4, tying ULL's record for most wins in a season; and
WHEREAS, since Coach Hudspeth took over as head coach in 2011, the Ragin'
Cajuns have had an astounding 27-12 overall record, a 17-6 conference record, and are 15-2
at home over the last three seasons; and
WHEREAS, the remarkable talent and determination of every player and coach on
the 2013 ULL football team led to this outstanding season and its culmination in victory at
the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl; and SR NO. 30 ENROLLED

WHEREAS, this incredible victory is an indelible part of an extraordinary era in the
history of ULL football and has created a memory that will be cherished forever by ULL
fans in generations to come; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize and express enduring appreciation for the
immense pride and honor that the 2013 ULL Ragin' Cajuns football team has brought to the
state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby recognize the magnificent performance of the University of Louisiana at
Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns during the 2013 season and their success in the New Orleans Bowl
and does hereby commend and congratulate the players, the coaching staff, and the entire
University of Louisiana at Lafayette football family upon this historic victory.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Coach Mark Hudspeth.
