Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 33 BY SENATORS PERRY AND CORTEZ A RESOLUTION To commend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team upon winning the Sun Belt Conference championship title and to recognize the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team on their extraordinary achievements for the 2013-2014 basketball season. WHEREAS, the third-seeded Ragin' Cajuns held a record of twenty-three wins and eleven losses for the 2013-2014 basketball season and earned an automatic bid to their first National Conference of Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament since 2005; and WHEREAS, after tying the score on a putback with 1.4 seconds remaining in regulation against top seed Georgia State in the Sun Belt Conference tournament title game on Sunday, March 16, 2014, the Ragin' Cajuns grabbed twenty offensive rebounds and held the lead for the rest of the game; and WHEREAS, after a thrilling game against Georgia State, the ULL men's basketball team beat the Panthers with a final score of 82-81; and WHEREAS, the Ragin' Cajuns have full confidence and support that the team will continue to triumph in the second round of the NCAA tournament that will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas, where the Ragin' Cajuns will face number three seed Creighton; and WHEREAS, all members of the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team deserve recognition and congratulations for their outstanding performance on the basketball court and for their competitive spirit that guided them and led them to victories throughout the season; and WHEREAS, Bob Marlin, head coach of the Ragin' Cajuns, deserves recognition and thanks for his leadership and motivational skills that he has instilled in the team. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the ULL Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team upon winning the Sun Belt Conference championship title and for competing in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2005. SR NO. 33 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate does hereby recognize and record the tremendous pride and honor that the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team has brought to ULL and to the state of Louisiana with this accomplishment, and does hereby extend best wishes to all players, coaches, and everyone involved with the basketball team as they compete in the NCAA tournament. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to coach Bob Marlin and the ULL Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
