SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75
BY SENATORS GUILLORY AND PERRY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend, recognize, and welcome Canadian visitors in Louisiana to take part in the
celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the twinning of the communities of
Dieppe in Acadia in New Brunswick and Carencro.
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2014, a celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the
twinning of the communities of Dieppe in Acadia in New Brunswick, and Carencro located
in the heart of Acadiana in Louisiana with an actual document signing that will occur at the
Mercredi Show at Pelican Park in Carencro; and 
WHEREAS, the citizens of Dieppe came together with the citizens of Carencro to
share the benefits of their way of life and the Acadian culture and have organized repeated
visits and exchanges to foster a better appreciation of our mutual ways of life; and
WHEREAS, the two municipalities have many things in common, including that
each has had horse racing tracks but neither have a track today; each has large, open spaces;
each is near a major university; each is a neighbor of a larger city, as one street separates the
city of Carencro from the larger city of Lafayette; and one street separates Dieppe from the
larger city of Moncton; and
WHEREAS, Carencro is twinned with Dieppe while Lafayette is twinned with
Moncton; and
WHEREAS, both communities share the attitude of "Laissez les bons temps rouler!"
and share common family names (although they may be spelled a little differently), such as
Cormier, LeBlanc, Gaudet, Robichaux/Robichaud, Leger/Lege, and Melancon/Melanson;
and
WHEREAS, several visitors have come from Canada to Louisiana to take part in the
celebration namely Maire Yvon and Betty Lapierre, Councilor Paul & Jacqueline Belliveau,
Councilor Jean Gaudet, former Maire Bill Malenfant, former Councilor Louis and
Hélène LeBlanc, City Manager Marc Melanson, Dominique Dupuis-Bourgeois, Danny
Bourgeois, Rémi Arsenault, and Stephen Leblanc. SR NO. 75	ENROLLED

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
hereby commends, recognizes, and extends welcome to the visitors from Canada who are
in Louisiana to take part in the celebration of the twenty-f ifth anniversary of the twinning
of the communities of Dieppe in Acadia in New Brunswick and Carencro, on April 23, 2014,
at the Mercredi Show at Pelican Park in Carencro.
