A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of Louisiana Army National Guard Staff Sergeant John W. Winsper III, upon
his death in Alexandria, Louisiana.
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper was a native of Alexandria, and attended
Nachman Elementary School and Our Lady of Prompt Succor; in 1998, his family moved
to Silverdale, Washington, and young John W. Winsper eventually got a chance to show his
athletic talents at Central Kitsap High School playing football and wrestling, where he was
a state wrestling qualifier; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper would demonstrate his impressive leadership
skills as a member of the Boy Scouts of America by earning the coveted rank of Eagle Scout
and bringing great pride and confidence to his fellow scouts; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper sought knowledge and in that quest, he attended
Washington State University, Louisiana State University and Mississippi College; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper felt a great love for his country and as a way for
him to display that great affection, he enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard and
soon stood out as a leader in the ranks of his unit; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper would sharpen and exemplify his leadership
abilities during two combat tours of duty, one in Iraq in 2010, and another in Afghanistan
in 2011 and 2012; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper would experience great joy and true love when
he married Alaina Browning on Valentine's Day, 2011, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor
Church, in Alexandria, where he planned to settle down, after his hectic and challenging life

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper was well known for his service and sacrifice for
his country during two separate combat deployments, and his devoted wife Alaina supported
him while knowing she was a soldier's wife and must stand by the man she loved; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Winsper was twenty-seven years old when he passed on
to a better place and he received his reward for a life well-lived, but he will be deeply missed
by his family, friends and comrades in arms, and he will never be forgotten by those he
loved and the lives he touched.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of Louisiana
Army National Guard Staff Sergeant John W. Winsper III, for their loss, their loved one's
service and the sacrifices he made in the service of his country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Louisiana Army National Guard Staff Sergeant John W. Winsper III.
