A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of United States Army Command Sergeant Major Andre Miguel Johnson
upon his death.
WHEREAS, Command Sergeant Major Johnson was a career soldier who served his
country bravely for twenty-eight years; and
WHEREAS, Command Sergeant Major Johnson was the beloved husband of Sonja
Averett Johnson, with whom he fathered three children, daughter, Jasmine, and sons, Andre
Jr., and Jaylen; and
WHEREAS, Command Sergeant Major Johnson served in many positions of
leadership during his military career, including Squad Leader, Section Leader of a Bradley
Command, Platoon Leader, First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major; and
WHEREAS, his awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with V-
Device for Valor and three Oak Leaf Clusters, as well as the Purple Heart and many service,
achievement and commendation medals; and
WHEREAS, Command Sergeant Major Johnson was forty-six years old when he
suddenly became ill at his post in Fort Bliss, Texas, and passed away unexpectedly; and
WHEREAS, his family, friends, loved ones and fellow soldiers must now carry the
memory of Command Sergeant Major Johnson in their hearts and by those feelings and
memories he will continue to live.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of U.S. Army SR NO. 95	ENROLLED

Command Sergeant Major Andre M. Johnson for their loss of a beloved man and for the
sacrifice made by the Command Sergeant Major while serving his country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Command Sergeant Major Johnson's family.
