HOUSE BILL NO. 112

1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:1138(B)(1) and (D), relative to judgeships; to provide relative
3 to judgeships in the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans; to authorize certain
4 judges to serve as duty judges; to provide for their authority; and to provide for
5 related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 13:1138(B)(1) and (D) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as
8 follows: 
9 ยง1138.  Domestic Relations Divisions

11	B.(1)  The first two judgeships becoming vacant by death, resignation,
12 retirement, or removal on or after August 15, 2011, shall be abolished and two new
13 judgeships shall be created and limited, pursuant to the provisions of Article V,
14 Section 15(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, to family matters as provided by law,
15 including the domestic relations matters provided for in Subsection C of this Section. 
16 In addition to such family and domestic relations matters, the judges provided for in
17 this Subsection may serve as a duty judge and shall have the same authority as other
18 judges of the court serving in the same capacity as a duty judge.

1	D.  The provisions of this Section shall apply to the Civil District Court for
2 the parish of Orleans or to the Forty-First Judicial District Court, whichever is
3 applicable, and shall supersede to the extent of conflict with any other provision of
4 law.
