HOUSE BILL NO. 201

TOURISM/COMMISSION:  Provides relative to the board of directors of the Acadia Parish
Convention and Visitors Commission
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 33:4574(F)(9), relative to the Acadia Parish Convention and Visitors
3 Commission; to provide for changes to the tourist commission's board of directors;
4 and to provide for related matters.
5	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
6	as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
7	Louisiana.
8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1.  R.S. 33:4574(F)(9) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
10 ยง4574.  Tourist commissions; creation; purpose; directors; powers

14	(9)  Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, the 
15 Acadia Parish Convention and Visitors Commission shall be governed by a board of 
16 eleven directors appointed by the governing authority of Acadia Parish.

18 Section 2. The governing authority of Acadia Parish may determine the initial terms
19of additional directors provided for by this Act.

Abstract: Provides for changes to the board of directors of the Acadia Parish Convention
and Visitors Commission.
Present law provides that the governing authority of any parish may form and create a tourist
commission.
Present law specifically creates certain tourist commissions including the Acadia Parish
Convention and Visitors Commission composed of all the territory in Acadia Parish.
Present law provides that, unless provided otherwise, a commission shall be governed by a
board of seven directors to be appointed by the governing authority of the parish.
Present law provides that, unless provided otherwise, appointments shall be made from a list
of nominees submitted to the governing authority by private, nonprofit groups that have an
interest in one or more aspects of the tourism industry.
Proposed law provides for an exception with respect to the Acadia Parish Convention and
Visitors Commission.  Provides that the commission shall be governed by a board of 11
directors; otherwise retains present law.
