APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of interest on future
medical expenses in the judgment entitled "John M. Byrd, Eugene Moore, Chris
Navarro and Joseph Michael Williams v. State of Louisiana DOTD" c/w "Jerry Starr,
individually and on behalf of his minor daughter Jamie Starr v. State of Louisiana
DOTD"
1 AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2015-
3 2016 to be used to pay the judgment of interest on future medical expenses in the suit
4 entitled "John M. Byrd, Eugene Moore, Chris Navarro and Joseph Michael Williams
5 v. State of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development"
6 consolidated with "Jerry Starr, individually and on behalf of his minor daughter
7 Jamie Starr v. State of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and
8 Development"; to provide for interest; and to provide for related matters.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1. The sum of Four Hundred Ninety-Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Thirty-
11Five and 56/100 ($497,935.56) Dollars plus legal interest from July 1, 2012, until paid is
12hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2015-
132016 to be used to pay the judgment of interest on future medical expenses in the suit
14entitled "John M. Byrd, Eugene Moore, Chris Navarro and Joseph Michael Williams v. State
15of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development" consolidated with
16"Jerry Starr, individually and on behalf of his minor daughter Jamie Starr v. State of
17Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and Development", bearing Numbers
1824606 and 24602, respectively, on the docket of the Thirty-Seventh Judicial District Court,
19Parish of Caldwell, State of Louisiana.

1 Section 2. The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have
2been paid on the effective date of this Act and legal interest shall cease to run as of that date.
3 Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2015; if vetoed by the governor
4and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
52015, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.

Effective July 1, 2015.
