Present law authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessor in Washington Parish, as well as the assessors in the Iberia Parish Assessment District and Webster Parish Assessment District. The allowance is equal to 15% of the assessor's annual salary and payable out of existing or surplus funds of the assessor's office, provided the assessor maintains $300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile insurance per accident for property damage. Present law authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessor in the Evangeline Assessment District. The allowance is equal to 12% of the assessor's annual salary and payable out of surplus funds of the assessor's office, provided the assessor maintains $300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile insurance per accident for property damage. The expense allowance shall be funded by the assessor and at no additional expense to the state or local governing authority.
