HOUSE BILL NO. 731
BY REPRESENTATIVE GAINES
APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Elizabeth F. Canizaro and Charles M. Canizaro, individually and on
behalf of his two minor children, Kala Canizaro and Christian Canizaro v. the State
of Louisiana through the DOTD"
1	AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2015-
3 2016 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "Elizabeth F.
4 Canizaro and Charles M. Canizaro, individually and on behalf of his two minor
5 children, Kala Canizaro and Christian Canizaro v. State of Louisiana Department of
6 Transportation and Development (Office of Highways)"; and to provide for related
7 matters.
8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1.  The sum of Thirty-Seven Thousand Fifty and 58/100 ($37,050.58)
10Dollars, is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal
11Year 2015-2016 to be apportioned and paid as follows:  Twenty-Eight Thousand Five
12Hundred and No/100 ($28,500.00) Dollars to Elizabeth Canizaro, Seven Thousand One
13Hundred Twenty-Eight and No/100 ($7,128.00) Dollars to Elizabeth Canizaro, in her
14capacity as the natural tutrix of Kayla Canizaro, and One Thousand Four Hundred Twenty-
15Two and 58/100 ($1,422.58) Dollars to Elizabeth Canizaro, in her capacity as the natural
16tutrix of Christian Canizaro, to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled
17"Elizabeth F. Canizaro and Charles M. Canizaro, individually and on behalf of his two minor
18children, Kala Canizaro and Christian Canizaro v. State of Louisiana Department of
19Transportation and Development (Office of Highways)", bearing Number 71,619, Division

1"D", on the docket of the Twenty-Ninth Judicial District Court, parish of St. Charles, state
2of Louisiana.
3 Section 2.  The sum of Six Hundred Ninety-Nine and 42/100 ($699.42) Dollars, is
4hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2015-
52016 to be paid to the Department of Health and Hospitals for medicaid reimbursement in
6the suit entitled  "Elizabeth F. Canizaro and  Charles M. Canizaro, individually and on behalf
7of his two minor children, Kala Canizaro and Christian Canizaro v. State of Louisiana
8Department of Transportation and Development (Office of Highways)", bearing Number
971,619, Division "D", on the docket of the Twenty-Ninth Judicial District Court, parish of
10St. Charles, state of Louisiana.
11 Section 3.  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2015; if vetoed by the governor
12and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
132015, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
