COMMENDAT IONS: Commends Klara and Drago Cvitanovich for receiving the Ella
Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Orleans Wine and Food
Experience
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Klara and Drago Cvitanovich, owners of Drago's Seafood Restaurant, upon
3 receiving the Ella Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Orleans
4 Wine and Food Experience.
5 WHEREAS, the Ella Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award is named in honor of
6famed restaurateur Ella Brennan of Commander's Palace, and it recognizes people who
7display a "lifetime commitment to the hospitality industry"; and
8 WHEREAS, in 1969, Klara and Drago Cvitanovich opened Drago's Seafood
9Restaurant and have since turned charbroiled oysters into a famous dish that has become
10essential to the New Orleans diet; on a busy day, the restaurant serves over 10,000
11charbroiled oysters; and
12 WHEREAS, Klara and Drago Cvitanovich operate three restaurants, and the couple's
13love for the city of New Orleans is inspiring to everyone around them as they continue to
14epitomize hospitality in every aspect; and
15 WHEREAS, Klara and Drago Cvitanovich have been dedicated members of the
16Louisiana Restaurant Association since 1991; and

1 WHEREAS, for over forty-six years, Klara and Drago Cvitanovich have represented
2all that is good about this state and have left an incredible mark on the minds and hearts of
3everyone who has dined at Drago's Restaurant; and
4 WHEREAS, Klara and Drago Cvitanovich merit a special measure of commendation
5for their outstanding service to the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
7commend Klara and Drago Cvitanovich upon receiving the 2014 Ella Brennan Lifetime
8Achievement Award from the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience; does hereby
9recognize their extraordinary service to the people of New Orleans and to the state of
10Louisiana; and does hereby record for posterity their outstanding achievements and singular
11contributions to the restaurant industry in the state.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
13to Klara and Drago Cvitanovich.
