CORPORATIONS: Requests the Louisiana State Law Institute to study and make
recommendations regarding revision of nonprofit corporation law
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To urge and request the Louisiana State Law Institute to study and make recommendations
3 regarding revision of nonprofit corporation law in the state of Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, the laws of the state with respect to nonprofit corporations were
5incorporated into the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 and revised forty-seven years ago
6by Act No. 105 of the 1968 Regular Session; and
7 WHEREAS, some of these laws have been amended in more recent years by the
8legislature, but the nonprofit corporation law as a whole is now in need of revision; and
9 WHEREAS, the revision of the laws relative to nonprofit corporations is necessary
10to increase certainty and predictability of Louisiana nonprofit corporation law; and
11 WHEREAS, such revision of the laws relative to nonprofit corporations is also
12necessary to aid Louisiana nonprofit corporations in remaining competitive with counterparts
13in other states.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
15urge and request the Louisiana State Law Institute to study and make recommendations
16regarding revision of the laws of the state relative to nonprofit corporations and to report its
17findings and recommendations to the legislature.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
19Louisiana State Law Institute.
