HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 164
BY REPRESENTATIVE HOWARD AND SENATORS LONG AND JOHN SMITH
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Florien High School baseball team upon winning the Louisiana High
School Athletic Association Class B state championship on May 16, 2015.
WHEREAS, the Florien High School Blackcats completed an outstanding 2015
season with a win over the Fairview High School Panthers in the championship game in
Sulphur to emerge as the Class B baseball state champions; and
WHEREAS, the championship game was Florien High School's first state finals
appearance in baseball; and
WHEREAS, Florien High School led an impressive 10-2 victory against Fairview
High School in the championship game; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest levels of excellence
throughout the 2015 season, and each of these intrepid Blackcats deserves recognition for
his vital contribution to the winning effort; and
WHEREAS, the Blackcats finished the 2015 season with a phenomenal record of 23-
6; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana wishes to recognize the well-deserved title
which the Florien High School Blackcats have earned, to commend the team for the ability
they have displayed, particularly at the most difficult level of competition, and to express
sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the team members and the coaching staff for the
merits earned and the sportsmanship shown while achieving such a high honor for their
school.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Florien High School baseball team for winning the Louisiana High School
Athletic Association Class B state baseball championship and for a truly spectacular season
and does hereby recognize their outstanding performance and the distinguished pride and
honor that they have brought to their school and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the head coach of the Florien High School baseball team.
