ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 35 BY REPRESENTATIVE HUNTER A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To urge and request the United States Postal Service to consider assigning a new zip code to the town of Richwood in Ouachita Parish. WHEREAS, the town of Richwood in Ouachita Parish shares a zip code with one used throughout the metropolitan Monroe area; and WHEREAS, when zip code boundaries are not aligned with municipal boundaries, there is potential for citizens to face higher home and automobile insurance rates, for confusion with respect to voter registration, and for misdirected property and sales tax revenues, among other problems; and WHEREAS, the assignment of a new zip code for use in the town of Richwood might reduce the potential for such problems; and WHEREAS, additionally, having a unique zip code might grant the citizens of the town of Richwood a stronger sense of independence and identity. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the United States Postal Service to consider assigning a new zip code to the town of Richwood in Ouachita Parish. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the United States Postmaster General and to the mayor of Richwood.
