ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 62 BY REPRESENTATIVE BROADWATER A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To express the condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., of Hammond, Louisiana, on March 10, 2015. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the death of Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., who was killed in dutiful service to his country when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a nighttime exercise in Florida, on March 10, 2015; and WHEREAS, Wayne Griffin was a native of Delhi, Louisiana, and was the son of George Wayne Griffin, Sr., and the late Brenda Griffin; and WHEREAS, he had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, playing golf, and flying Black Hawk helicopters, but most of all, his life was fulfilled by his family, his beautiful wife and his adored children; and WHEREAS, heeding the call of his country, George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., began a career with the Louisiana Army National Guard on March 16, 1994; and WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin served in the Louisiana Army National Guard with great courage and valor as evidenced by his receipt of numerous awards such as the Combat Action Badge, the Senior Aviator Badge, and the Basic Aviation Badge; and WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin had logged over six thousand flight hours and one thousand combat hours; he proudly served his country in Iraq from 2003 until 2005 and 2008 until 2009; and WHEREAS, with twenty-one years of distinguished service with the Louisiana Army National Guard, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin was a military professional serving as a Black Hawk and C12 instructor; and Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 62 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin left an indelible mark on his family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin's passion for his country and community will forever remain in the hearts and minds of his loving wife, Becky Beauvais Griffin; his daughter, Marianne' Bozovic'; his sons, Cody, Dylan, and Logan Griffin; his father, George Wayne Griffin, Sr., and his wife, Linda; his sisters, Tammy Carrige, Reba Slade, and April Spencer; and his brother, Brian Griffin; and WHEREAS, the sacrifices made by the great men and women who protect and defend the United States and its citizens must always be acknowledged by those who are left behind to honor their memory; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana records for posterity the extraordinary dedication and commitment to his country that Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., displayed throughout his life and in his twenty-one years of military service. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its condolences and most heartfelt sorrow to the family of Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., and does hereby acknowledge and record for posterity the unique and special contributions of Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin to the city Hammond, to the state of Louisiana, and to the United States of America.
