HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 1

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates and to welcome them to the
state capitol.
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Louisiana Airport Managers and Association
(LAMA) is to promote aviation and airport interests, to provide a medium for discussion by
its members, to advocate for proper legislation for aviation and airports, to advise and
provide consultants to members of the organization when requested, and to foster
development of potential educational intern programs and scholarships; and
WHEREAS, LAMA holds quarterly meetings, annual conferences, and periodic
workshops; the association has consistently been the best source of accurate information
regarding the aviation industry, and it is often called upon by its members for verification
of new data; and
WHEREAS, LAMA awards annual scholarships to outstanding aviation students
enrolled at one of Louisiana's participating colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, members of LAMA include airport executives, corporate aviation
executives, consultants, vendors, suppliers, fixed base operators, and students in accredited
aviation programs; and
WHEREAS, aviation is critical to the national transportation system and airports
serve as critical infrastructure and major economic engines; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana is home to seven air carrier airports and sixty-two public use
general aviation airports that produce a direct economic output of over six billion dollars and
support over fifty-eight thousand jobs.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Airport Managers and
Associates; does hereby recognize LAMA's commitment to educational programs and
scholarships in order to promote aviation and airport interests; and does hereby welcome its
members to the state capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the president of the Louisiana Airport Managers and Association.
