HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 109

A RESOLUTION
To commend Patrick "Pat" Williams, Sr., as the new football co-defensive coordinator and
defensive line coach for the Wossman High School football team.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the great achievements and distinguished
career of Patrick "Pat" Williams, Sr., upon being named the new football co-defensive
coordinator and defensive line coach for Wossman High School's football team; and
WHEREAS, Pat Williams is a 1992 graduate of Wossman High School, where he
played football as a defensive lineman; he attended Navarro College and Northeastern
Oklahoma A&M before finishing his college career at Texas A&M, where he was selected
for the All-Southwest Conference; and
WHEREAS, he was signed by the Buffalo Bills in 1997, and he later became a three-
time Pro Bowl selection, a second-team All-Pro in 2007, and the Ed Block Courage Award
recipient in 2003; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, after a fourteen-year career in the National Football League
(NFL) with the Buffalo Bills and the Minnesota Vikings, Mr. Williams briefly retired; in
2013, he signed a one-day contract with the Minnesota Vikings, and he finished his NFL
career with a total of 566 tackles, 20.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and one interception;
and
WHEREAS, prior to his selection as the new football co-defensive coordinator and
defensive line coach for Wossman High School, Pat Williams was the defensive line coach
at Sterlington High School during the past two football seasons; and
WHEREAS, Coach Williams merits a special measure of commendation as he is
welcomed with great enthusiasm to Wossman High School.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Pat Williams upon being named the co-
defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the Wossman High School football team;
does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments in his
football career with the National Football League; and does hereby express enduring
appreciation to him for the tremendous pride, honor, and joy his arrival brings to Wossman
High School.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Patrick "Pat" Williams, Sr.
