COMMENDATIONS: Commends Sam Fox and his efforts in raising money for The
Michael J. Fox Foundation through the Tour de Fox
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Sam Fox for his extraordinary fundraising efforts for The Michael J. Fox
3 Foundation through the Tour de Fox.
4 WHEREAS, Sam Fox is a twenty-seven year old endurance athlete who has turned
5his passion for the outdoors into extreme fundraising events in honor of his mother, Lucy,
6who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2000; and
7 WHEREAS, Sam Fox serves as the outreach and engagement officer at The Michael
8J. Fox Foundation, the world's largest nonprofit foundation for Parkinson's research; and
9 WHEREAS, since 2000, the foundation has funded more than four hundred fifty
10million dollars in global research; and
11 WHEREAS, as part of The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Team Fox helps raise critical
12research dollars and unites communities in pursuit of a cure for Parkinson's Disease; and
13 WHEREAS, in 2011, Sam ran the entire 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Canada
14to Mexico in a total of sixty days; this extraordinary effort raised three hundred thousand
15dollars for Parkinson's research; and
16 WHEREAS, in 2012, he ran one hundred miles in twenty-four hours from Times
17Square, Manhattan, to the Hamptons and raised an additional one hundred thousand dollars
18for Parkinson's research; and
19 WHEREAS, in his efforts to unite and inspire the Parkinson's community, Sam will
20test his physical limits by running, biking, and climbing through each of the forty-eight
21continental United States in three months during the Tour de Fox; and

1 WHEREAS, as part of Tour de Fox, Sam will travel through New Orleans on June
229, 2015, and through Baton Rouge on June 30, 2015; and
3 WHEREAS, on July 1, 2015, Sam Fox will climb Driskill Mountain, the highest
4point in the state of Louisiana; and
5 WHEREAS, Sam Fox serves as an inspiration to others because of his integrity and
6his steadfast dedication to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Sam Fox for his fundraising efforts on
9behalf of The Michael J. Fox Foundation through Tour de Fox; does hereby recognize and
10record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions; and does
11hereby extend to him best wishes for success on his Tour de Fox and all his future
12endeavors.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
14to Sam Fox.
