HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 124

A RESOLUTION
To commend Sam Fox for his extraordinary fundraising efforts for The Michael J. Fox
Foundation through the Tour de Fox.
WHEREAS, Sam Fox is a twenty-seven year old endurance athlete who has turned
his passion for the outdoors into extreme fundraising events in honor of his mother, Lucy,
who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Sam Fox serves as the outreach and engagement officer at The Michael
J. Fox Foundation, the world's largest nonprofit foundation for Parkinson's research; and
WHEREAS, since 2000, the foundation has funded more than four hundred fifty
million dollars in global research; and
WHEREAS, as part of The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Team Fox helps raise critical
research dollars and unites communities in pursuit of a cure for Parkinson's Disease; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, Sam ran the entire 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Canada
to Mexico in a total of sixty days; this extraordinary effort raised three hundred thousand
dollars for Parkinson's research; and
WHEREAS, in 2012, he ran one hundred miles in twenty-four hours from Times
Square, Manhattan, to the Hamptons and raised an additional one hundred thousand dollars
for Parkinson's research; and
WHEREAS, in his efforts to unite and inspire the Parkinson's community, Sam will
test his physical limits by running, biking, and climbing through each of the forty-eight
continental United States in three months during the Tour de Fox; and
WHEREAS, as part of Tour de Fox, Sam will travel through New Orleans on June
29, 2015, and through Baton Rouge on June 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, on July 1, 2015, Sam Fox will climb Driskill Mountain, the highest
point in the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Sam Fox serves as an inspiration to others because of his integrity and
his steadfast dedication to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Sam Fox for his fundraising efforts on
behalf of The Michael J. Fox Foundation through Tour de Fox; does hereby recognize and
record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions; and does
hereby extend to him best wishes for success on his Tour de Fox and all his future
endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Sam Fox.
