HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 133
BY REPRESENTATIVE COX
A RESOLUTION
To commend Philip A. McClung upon his retirement after thirty-four years of teaching in
the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, upon the occasion of his retirement, it is appropriate to commend Philip
A. McClung of Northwestern State University (NSU) Middle Lab School in Natchitoches,
Louisiana, after thirty-four years of dedicated service to the education of the youth of
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McClung received a bachelor of arts degree in education from
Northwestern State University in 1981; in 1991, he received his master of education degree
in secondary education from Northwestern State University; and
WHEREAS, in 1980, Mr. McClung was a student teacher at Winnfield High School
in Winn Parish; he also taught at Georgetown High School in Grant Parish before becoming
a teacher at NSU Middle Lab School, where he teaches language arts, social studies, and
technology; he also provides field supervision and adjunct instruction for the College of
Education at NSU; and
WHEREAS, in honor of his myriad contributions and committed service as a teacher,
Mr. McClung has received many awards, some of which include the Natchitoches Parish
High School Teacher of the Year Award, the Natchitoches Jaycees Outstanding Young
Educator Award, the Louisiana State Middle School Teacher of the Year Award, and in
2009, he was named the NSU Middle Lab School Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Philip A. McClung merits a sincere measure of commendation upon his
retirement after thirty-four years of dedicated service as an outstanding educator.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Philip A. McClung upon the occasion of his
retirement after thirty-four years of dedicated service as an educator; does hereby recognize
his commitment to the education of the youth in Louisiana; and does hereby wish him full
measures of success and happiness in the years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Philip A. McClung.
