SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as Louisiana
Psychological Association Day at the state capitol
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Louisiana Psychological Association for its achievements and to designate
3 June 2, 2015, as Louisiana Psychological Association Day at the state capitol.
4 WHEREAS, psychology is a diverse discipline, grounded in science, and with
5boundless applications in everyday life; and
6 WHEREAS, psychologists advance the creation, communication, evaluation, and
7application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people's lives
8through the study of normal and abnormal behavior and the treatment of individuals with
9mental and emotional problems; and
10 WHEREAS, psychologists study and encourage behaviors that build wellness and
11emotional resilience; and
12 WHEREAS, the contributions of psychology to health, well-being, productivity, and
13quality of life are widely noted, understood, valued, and utilized by society; and
14 WHEREAS, currently, there are more than seven hundred fifty licensed
15psychologists located throughout the state of Louisiana; and
16 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Psychological Association, as the state professional
17association representing psychologists in all practice, research, and academic settings, works
18to further the development of psychology as a science, as an applied practice, and as a means
19of promoting human welfare; and

1 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Psychological Association advances the quality,
2availability, use, and support of psychology through standard-setting, advocacy, education,
3and research to better serve the public; and
4 WHEREAS, the mission of the Louisiana Psychological Association is to advance
5the field of psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting health,
6education, and human welfare; and
7 WHEREAS, the men and women of the Louisiana Psychological Association have
8made a difference in the communities throughout this state; and
9 WHEREAS, on June 12 through 13, 2015, the Louisiana Psychological Association
10will host its annual convention, with "Psychology Across the Life Span" as its theme.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
12Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Psychological Association
13and its members for furthering the scientific understanding of the behavioral and cognitive
14process and for dedicated service to the people of Louisiana and recognizes Tuesday, June
152, 2015, as Louisiana Psychological Association Day at the state capitol.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
17to the president of the Louisiana Psychological Association.
