ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 146 BY REPRESENTATIVE HONORE A RESOLUTION To commend Bennie Frank Singleton for his many achievements and upon the celebration of his ninety-fourth birthday. WHEREAS, born on June 7, 1921, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, Mr. Singleton is the son of Ora Turner; and WHEREAS, in December of 1942, Mr. Singleton became a member of the United States Army; he served in World War II, and he was active in the invasion of Normandy; and WHEREAS, in January of 1946, he was honorably discharged from the Army; in recognition of his extraordinary military service, he received many honors and medals such as the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Honor, the Marksmanship Badge, the Five Star Campaign Star, and many others; and WHEREAS, in 1950, Mr. Singleton married Eliza A. Batiste, and the couple remained married until Eliza's death; and WHEREAS, for fifty dedicated years, Mr. Singleton worked as a cement finisher; he also helped supervise a construction crew for the building of the Sunshine Bridge; and WHEREAS, he is a member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church in Baton Rouge; and WHEREAS, Mr. Singleton is a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and WHEREAS, upon the celebration of his ninety-fourth birthday, it is appropriate to commend Bennie Frank Singleton for his many achievements throughout his life. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 146 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bennie Frank Singleton for his many achievements throughout his life; does hereby commend Mr. Singleton upon the celebration of his ninety-fourth birthday; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor this wonderful gentleman brings to his family, friends, community, and state.
