HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 147
BY REPRESENTATIVE HOFFMANN
A RESOLUTION
To commend Dr. Robert W. Webber upon his retirement as superintendent of the Ouachita
Parish School System and for his many accomplishments.
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Wayne Webber spent his boyhood in Ferriday; he
matriculated at Northeast Louisiana University where he earned a bachelor of science degree
in 1977, a master of education degree in 1985, and an education specialist degree in 1993;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Webber earned his terminal degree, a doctorate in education, from
Louisiana Tech University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Webber married the former Janis Townsend of Monroe, and
together they raised a daughter, Tara Bryant, and a son, Seth; and
WHEREAS, in 1993, Dr. Webber launched a career in his chosen field; he received
certification in education administration and supervision and became the Ouachita Parish
School System superintendent in 2001; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Webber was vice president of the Louisiana Education Consortium
Student Association for two years; he served one year as historian and two years as president
of Phi Delta Kappa; Dr. Webber worked seven years as a cosponsor of the Ouachita Parish
High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Ouachita Parish High School
Fellowship of Christian Studies; he served one year as president of the North Louisiana
Superintendents Association and is a current member; and
WHEREAS, in his professional career as an administrator, Dr. Webber served as a
member of the Louisiana Association of Middle School Executives, the Louisiana
Association of Principals, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the
National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Ouachita Parish Pupil Progression
Committee, the Louisiana State Principals Internship Committee, the Louisiana Association

of School Superintendents, the National Association of School Superintendents, and the
Parish Superintendents Advisory Council; Dr. Webber also served on the transition team of
Governor Bobby Jindal and participated in the First Families of the Twin Territories and the
Louisiana Society of the Sons of the American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to commend Dr. Robert W. Webber upon his retirement as
superintendent of the Ouachita Parish School System and to herald the many
accomplishments of his educational career.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives does hereby
commend Dr. Robert W. Webber for his extraordinarily effective participation in the field
of education in the state of Louisiana and does hereby offer best wishes for a full life and
many happy days following his retirement as superintendent of the Ouachita Parish School
System.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Dr. Robert W. Webber.
