HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 158
BY REPRESENTATIVE JAMES
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Wilson Global Initiative and its founder, Chance Wilson, for their efforts
to innovate education around the world.
WHEREAS, the Wilson Global Initiative is an international nonprofit organization
that is dedicated to eliminating illiteracy in low-income communities around the world; and
WHEREAS, through various projects, such as reading programs, book drives, and
building campaigns, the Wilson Global Initiative has taken steps to bring about change in
the Baton Rouge area; and
WHEREAS, the Wilson Global Initiative actively seeks to create change around the
world, such as in the city of Guangzhou, China, where the organization is in partnership with
the United States Embassy to help Chinese students learn the English language; and
WHEREAS, the Wilson Global Initiative was founded by Chance Wilson; Chance
is a fifteen-year-old high school freshman who is determined to use his imagination to
change the world; and
WHEREAS, Chance is driven to ensure that all children, regardless of their current
situation, are able to read and write; and
WHEREAS, Chance merits a special measure of commendation for his remarkable
efforts to serve his community of Baton Rouge and to help eradicate illiteracy around the
world; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Wilson Global Initiative and its
founder, Chance Wilson, for their efforts to innovate education around the world.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Wilson Global Initiative and its founder,
Chance Wilson, for their hard work and dedication to revitalize education around the world.
