ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 16 BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH A RESOLUTION To commend Kappa Beta Delta and the students at Baton Rouge Community College who are members of this international business honor society. WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta was established nationally in 1997 to recognize the high academic achievements of students in business programs; and WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta members at the Baton Rouge Community College are encouraged to excel, to be trustworthy and genuine, and to achieve excellence in student scholarship in their pursuit of business, management, and administration associate degrees; and WHEREAS, the Baton Rouge Community College chapter of Kappa Beta Delta was established in 2011 with stringent academic standards that require members to rank within the top twenty percent of their class; the average student grade point average at the Baton Rouge Community College chapter of Kappa Beta Delta is 3.8 on a 4.0 point scale; and WHEREAS, the benefits of Kappa Beta Delta membership include opportunities for involvement with business issues critical to the local community, the ability to secure good jobs in Louisiana's workforce upon graduation, and interaction with community stakeholders which increases students' knowledge of business practices; and WHEREAS, Kappa Beta Delta members have engaged the community outside the confines of the Baton Rouge Community College campus through activities such as feeding families in partnership with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and working to improve garbage pick-up in neighborhoods in the greater Baton Rouge area; and WHEREAS, the College of Business at Baton Rouge Community College employs innovative means in its mission to reach, engage, and educate its students, and a vital component in that mission is Kappa Beta Delta honor society. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 16 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Kappa Beta Delta honor society chapter at Baton Rouge Community College and does hereby laud the beneficial role Kappa Beta Delta plays in equipping the students of today for their future careers. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Pearce Cinman, academic advisor to Kappa Beta Delta at Baton Rouge Community College.
