GERMAIN, STOKES, TALBOT, THIBAUT, THIERRY, WHITNEY, ALFRED WILLIAMS, PATRICK WILLIAMS, WILLMOTT, AND WOODRUFF A RESOLUTION To commend the Honorable Austin J. Badon, Jr., and to express enduring gratitude for his outstanding contributions to Orleans Parish and the state of Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. WHEREAS, Austin Badon is a notable public servant who has served with excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time he has fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of his district and the state in an honorable and dedicated manner; and WHEREAS, he is a graduate of St. Augustine High School, the University of New Orleans, where he received a bachelor of arts degree, and Troy State University, where he received a master of arts degree; and WHEREAS, Representative Badon has been a proud member of the Democratic Caucus, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, and the Orleans Delegation; and WHEREAS, Representative Badon's diligent committee service has included serving as the chairman of the House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs and the House Committee on Education, vice chairman of the House Committee on Education Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 199 ENROLLED and the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works, and he has served as a member of the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice, the House Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations, the House Committee on Ways and Means, and the House Committee on Civil Law and Procedure; and WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Badon has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation including but not limited to consolidating to Orleans Parish assessors and increasing punishment for vehicular homicide; and WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter of his life, Representative Badon merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Austin J. Badon, Jr.; does hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments, particularly during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents in Orleans Parish and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Badon for his service to the citizens of Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished body, and hereby extends to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
