A RESOLUTION
To commend the Honorable Charles E. "Chuck" Kleckley and to express enduring gratitude
for his outstanding contributions to Calcasieu Parish, the House of Representatives,
and the state of Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member
and speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, Chuck Kleckley is a notable public servant who has served with
excellence since taking office in 2005, during which time he has fully used every
opportunity to serve the citizens of his district and the state in an honorable and dedicated
manner; and
WHEREAS, he is a graduate of McNeese State University, where he received a
bachelor of science degree in finance; and
WHEREAS, since January 9, 2012, Chuck Kleckley has served with great distinction
as the sixty-seventh Speaker of the House, having made history as the second Republican
to hold this position since Reconstruction and the first state lawmaker from Calcasieu Parish
to serve as speaker; and

WHEREAS, Speaker Kleckley's strength of purpose in striving to ensure an effective
legislature has been consistently demonstrated; and
WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Speaker Kleckley has
worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation and has played a key role in
the House's work on numerous state issues, including but not limited to improvements and
reforms in the state's elementary and secondary education systems; and
WHEREAS, Speaker Kleckley's diligent committee service previously included
serving as chairman of the House Committee on Insurance, and he served as a member of
the House Committee on Retirement and the House Committee on Commerce; and
WHEREAS, in his final term in the Louisiana House of Representatives, Speaker
Kleckley has served on the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, the Legislative
Budgetary Control Council, the State Bond Commission, and as an ex officio member of the
House Executive Committee, the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, and all other
House committees; and
WHEREAS, Speaker Kleckley has been a proud member of the Acadiana
Delegation, the Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation, and the Louisiana Rural
Caucus; and
WHEREAS, the House of Representatives and the state as a whole have benefitted
tremendously from the leadership of Speaker Kleckley; and
WHEREAS, Speaker Kleckley has proven to be a vital asset to the state of Louisiana,
and those who have worked with him have appreciated his passion and determination as the
holder of the speaker's gavel; and
WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
of his life, Speaker Kleckley merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member and speaker
of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Charles E. "Chuck" Kleckley;
does hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments,
particularly during his tenure as a member and speaker of the Louisiana House of
Representatives, which has been marked by his uncompromising endeavors to improve the

welfare of his constituents in Calcasieu Parish and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and
does hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated
his intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
expresses enduring gratitude to Speaker Kleckley for his service to the citizens of Louisiana,
as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member and speaker of this distinguished
body, and hereby extends to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Honorable Charles E. "Chuck" Kleckley.
