ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 23 BY REPRESENTATIVE PONTI A RESOLUTION To recognize Monday, April 13, 2015, as Electrical Lineman Appreciation Day in Louisiana. WHEREAS, linemen, also known as line workers, power line technicians, and power line workers, install and maintain electric power transmission, telephone, cable, and fiber optic lines as well as distribution facilities; and WHEREAS, linemen are trained to install and maintain wires, transformers, towers and poles properly and safely; and WHEREAS, linemen often must work under dangerous conditions and in severe weather twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year, to keep the power on; and WHEREAS, linemen are often first responders during storms and other catastrophic events to restore power and protect the public from hazards such as downed power lines; and WHEREAS, Linemen Appreciation Day is an opportunity to thank linemen for their work to keep the power on and the public safe. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize April 13, 2015, as Lineman Appreciation Day in the state of Louisiana and does hereby express heartfelt thanks to the brave workers who are charged with defying the elements to maintain the safe flow of electricity for the citizens of the state.
