ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72 BY REPRESENTATIVE HARRIS A RESOLUTION To commend Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon the celebration of her one hundred fifth birthday. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon the memorable occasion of her one hundred fifth birthday; and WHEREAS, on June 11, 1910, Selena was born to Elizabeth Jones-Johnson and Paul Augustine in Long Bridge, Louisiana; she is the youngest of thirteen children; and WHEREAS when Selena was eleven years old, her family moved to Glenmora, Louisiana, where she continues to reside today; and WHEREAS in 1929, she married Oscar Larry, and this marriage lasted for fourteen years until he passed away in 1943, and WHEREAS on April 18, 1950, she married Elijah Anderson, and this marriage lasted for thirty-seven years until he passed away in 1987; and WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson is a loving and devoted mother and grandmother; she has been blessed with one son, two daughters, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; she also raised two foster daughters; and WHEREAS, she worked on her family farm and clerked in the family store; she has been an active member of Grover Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church since her marriage in 1950; and WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson is truly a dynamic woman who is an inspiration to all; and WHEREAS, Selena Augustine Larry Anderson merits a special measure of commendation for the tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her family, friends, community, church, and the state of Louisiana. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 72 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon the memorable and historic occasion of her one hundred fifth birthday; does hereby recognize and record for posterity the extraordinary life she has lived in the one hundred five years since her birth; does hereby extend enduring gratitude for the contributions she has made to her community and her family; and does hereby wish her full measures of health and happiness in the years to come.
