HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 8
BY REPRESENTATIVE BROADWATER
A RESOLUTION
To commend Joshua Husser upon his appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
WHEREAS, the United States Air Force Academy seeks individuals who possess
exceptional academic prowess and leadership potential; and
WHEREAS, to win appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, candidates
must be of good moral character and meet high leadership, academic, physical, and medical
standards; and
WHEREAS, out of more than 12,000 applicants to the United States Air Force
Academy each year, fewer than ten percent merit appointment; and
WHEREAS, Joshua Husser, a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in
Hammond, has matriculated as a student who more than exceeds the rigorous, stringent
standards of exceptionalism set by one of the nation's most prestigious academic institutions;
and
WHEREAS, while at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Mr. Husser demonstrated
his intellectual acumen by passing the ACT with flying colors, scoring 33 out of 36 possible
points; he is a member of Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and the Quiz Bowl team;
and
WHEREAS, leadership skills are a critical component of successful applicants to the
United States Air Force Academy; Mr. Husser is president of the 4-H Club and captain of
the shooting team at St. Thomas Aquinas; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of Louisiana's accomplished
youth like Joshua Husser, a model student and citizen who represents the best and brightest
of the state.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby congratulate Joshua Husser upon his appointment to
the United States Air Force Academy; does hereby commend his commitment to the defense
of the principles and ideals of his country through military service; and does hereby extend
to him best wishes for a safe tour of duty at the Academy and high hopes for success in the
endeavors of his life.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Joshua Husser.
