SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 31
BY SENATORS ERDEY AND AMEDEE AND REPRESENTATIVE SCHEXNAYDER 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend and congratulate Keith Martin on his retirement from the Livingston Parish
School Board.
WHEREAS, Keith Martin was first elected to the Livingston Parish School Board
to represent District 8 in 1986 and took office in 1987; and
WHEREAS, at that time, the board spent less than thirty million dollars annually to
operate schools for the thirteen thousand students in the district; and
WHEREAS, currently, the board oversees a budget of nearly two hundred million
dollars for the education of more than twenty-five thousand students; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin has witnessed many changes to the educational landscape
during his twenty-eight years on the board; and
WHEREAS, as a board member, he has overseen the implementation of new
educational standards, accountability measures, and numerous initiatives in the state's quest
to raise test scores in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, he has devoted much of his life to serving the students of Livingston
Parish and to ensuring that those students have access to a quality education; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon public servants
like Keith Martin; and
WHEREAS, Keith Martin merits a special measure of commendation for the
tremendous pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, the parish of
Livingston, and the state of Louisiana.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Keith Martin, Livingston Parish School Board member
representing District 8, for his dedication upon his retirement from public service, does
hereby recognize and record for posterity his accomplishments and contributions to his
community, and does hereby extend best wishes for his continued success and happiness in
the years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Keith Martin.
