SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 70
BY SENATOR CLAITOR AND REPRESENTATIVE FOIL 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To recognize and acknowledge the efforts of the employees of the Louisiana Department of
Public Safety and Corrections, youth services, office of juvenile justice (OJJ).
WHEREAS, office of juvenile justice (OJJ) staff are trained professionals dedicated
to maintaining and managing secure care facilities and ensuring the public safety; and 
WHEREAS, OJJ employees are responsible for the treatment of Louisiana's young
people every year through a quality system of care that embraces partnerships with families,
communities, and system partners to assist youth in redirecting their lives toward responsible
citizenship; and
WHEREAS, OJJ employees work in very demanding and stressful conditions caring
for a high risk population, face many challenges, and put themselves at risk every day; and
WHEREAS, OJJ employees are dedicated to assisting youth in setting goals, making
healthy choices, building relationships, and creating enrichment opportunities for self
growth; and
WHEREAS, OJJ employees serve admirably in many different capacities, including
juvenile justice specialists, social service workers, medical, supervisors, administrators,
managers and directors; and
WHEREAS, OJJ staff are outcome oriented in achieving results consistent with the
mission while constantly striving to offer individualized and appropriate treatment to youth
based on national best practices; and
WHEREAS, OJJ secure-care staff work with their community-based partners to
coordinate services for youth while preparing them for reentry and life in their communities;
and
WHEREAS, OJJ staff rise to meet almost any challenge and serve this honorable
profession with honesty, integrity, transparency, and inclusion of all parties; and

WHEREAS, OJJ employees deserve the recognition for their service and should be
commended by leaders in the profession, the public, and our elected officials for the
tremendous job they do and for the exceptional performance of duties under the most
difficult of circumstances; and
WHEREAS, May 3-9, 2015, is designated National Correctional Employees Week.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize and acknowledge the efforts of the employees of the Louisiana Department of
Public Safety and Corrections, youth services, office of juvenile justice.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all citizens of Louisiana are hereby urged and
encouraged to honor these correctional professionals and to recognize their achievements.
